a ::the smoke zone::: My inner Hippie speaking.

My inner Hippie speaking.

I just read in the Reader's Digest that the dirtiest city in the United States is Chicago. Heh, Widge - Put that in your pipe and smoke it! Or maybe you shouldn't smoke anything as it might make the pollution worse.

Oh, and do you want to guess which one was the cleanest? No?

Well I'll tell you anyway, because I am feeling annoyingly green today:

Portland, Oregon! Isn't that butt awesome? One for you, Daphne.

L.A. was third or fourth worst, for RK's info... Seattle wasn't mentioned so I assume it's somewhere in the middle.

This probably doesn't interest you non-'green-thinking' folk, but it amused me to no end. And it is yet another reason to go live in Portland! I'm loving that city more and more...

Ok, Avi out.

So if I move to Florida, what's the air like there?

Eh, it wasn't mentioned, I don't think. But maybe it was and I just didn't see... actually, I think I remember Orlando being on the "good" list...

Since when is Reader's Digest good for anything other than cheap jokes to tell to your family and friends and MAYBE a midly entertaining dramatic story about how someone was in a horrible situation and then pulled together and made it through?
I can honestly say, from a completely disinterested viewpoint (¬.¬) that Portland struck me as being particularly more dirty and cluttered of a city than A. most cities I've been in and B. definately Chicago. So I can negate that Reader's Digest claim.
Chicago is clean.
You LAIK ChiCAgo.
You LAHVE it.
You MAHST GO there.
You cannot REESEEST it.

It's settled. I'm totally moving to Orlando. Forever.

And Widge, knock of that cheese spelling. Honestly!

Hey, no dissing Portland. That is an official study found other places than readers digest and it has to do with more than just the stuff you saw on the sidewalk. It concerns overall cleanliness and lack of pollutyness. So :P to you and your stupid chicago.

That's what I'm saying! See how awesome Portland is?

And Widge, Chicago is pretty, no one's denying that, but you can't say there's no pollution, either. And Reader's Digest is generally pretty reliable... unlike you! Ohhh... put THAT in your pipe and smoke it!

Ha! Chicago. Move to *looks at a globe* Portugal!

I don't think we have any clue. Avi just blurted it out one day and it stuck.

It wasnt me and I certainly didn't come up with it on my own. I thought it was a fairly well-known phrase, actually... apparently not.

It is unusually apt for this particular group, however, is it not?
