We interupt your regularly scheduled silliness for this important news break!
Andunneana has posted, not just here but on her blog which has sat forgotten for years endless. What, you cry, could have prompted this posting? What could the content be? Why none other than pictures. Yes, pictures of a long heralded trip of valor and insanity. Of many sights not fore seen and disregard for the good advice to avoid invading Russia in the winter. Go, run, crawl to the blog or simply click the picture below. A picture of such smokerish sugar in St. Petersburg that it cried to be taken.
And that's the way the cookie crumbles.

Indeed?! A new post you say? Quick, alert the media! Stop the presses!
*promptly goes back to reading something else*
And while the presses are stopped, you may want to peruse the various many posts that I, as well, have been updating. It's astounding. I know.
And by the way, what the hell is that?!
sugar cubes from russia.
In Soviet Russia, sugar cubes you!
Hahaha...well played sir. Well played indeed.
I loved the pictures! I especially loved the one with the monks in it - it had such lovely color and was so evocative. I am also insanely jealous. Those pictures make me wish so desperately to be in Asia.
Fate and I found it painfully interesting to see the transition from a more European/Greek look in Russia to a very distinct Asian influence.
Russia is strange. How does one define "Russian culture"? Odd...
The Russians did steal their culture, or at least the hoy poloy part of it, from Europe. They imported architects, musicians, composers, plays, artists, military technicians, etc.
