Books?

So has anyone read any good books lately that you'd like to recommend to your friends? A novel perhaps? A biography even? What are you reading now? Or do you have time to read at all?
.
I'm currently finishing up The Mauritius Command by Patrick O'Brian; One of the Jack Aubrey series of historical naval fiction. I'd recommend the series to anyone interested in the speaking styles of the early 1800's or in naval and sailing matters in general. Wonderful character development and thought structures. The movie Master and Commander is based off of this series. Two thumbs up.

That's it, we're all so wrapped up with school, work, etc that we don't even have time for a good book. And why do we not even comment to admit this fact, because we are embarassed. Yes, embarassed that as smkrs we cannot even make time for a single good book :( Time to sic the stinky cheese on us all for our complete lack of time and attention.

I'm guessing by your silence that you're simiply waiting for me to add some more options. Ok I can do that. Read any good newspaper articles lately? Or maybe a flier? A billboard? A bumpersticker? Come on guys...

This is what medical professionals have labeled as "desperateness".

I think we can all clearly see why.

I just read a travelouge called "No Touch Monkey" of which I can't actually say anything about as it was Rali's book first and I read it only under the stipulation that I wouldn't say anything about it to her or within hearing range of her.
The book I read before that was Harry Potter and the Deathly Doldrums.
I mean Hallows.
But I can't say anything more about that other than I really didn't like it and thought it was rubbish.
Rali is still planning to read it see, and I dun't want to ruin anything for her. Although I'm really hard-pressed as to what I might ruin.

You would, obviously, ruin the ruining of itself for me.

That has to be priceless.
And I'd rather be able to thank JK for it rather than you.

Ok I will not make a smarmy remark about those last two posts. :P
While I agree JKR could have done alot better then she did I was generally pleased with the book. Certainly not amazed but...pleased.
